Our Opening Prayer
We come into your presence now, knowing that we are part of your family here in Wrington, Winscombe and united with fellow Christians across the world.
We may be apart and some may feel rather isolated and lonely in their own homes, but we join together now Lord, with and through you.
We bring this time of worship and teaching to you.

Thank you for all your support of Wrington Chapel and its work in the past.
We realise that many people are hard-pressed at the moment, and church may be the last thing on your mind. However, we are looking to the future when we can reopen and support each other in our usual way. Unfortunately, being closed does not mean our expenses are substantially less. If you already have a standing order set up, then thank you. But if you haven't, please consider getting in touch with Steve Osman and setting one up. If that is impossible, please continue to save up your collection money, and we will collect it all together when we reopen. Please note that the rules do not allow us to claim any Gift Aid on collections that are not taken up in church. So do NOT drop collection money off at Steve's house.
Simply take out a standing order, or save it up for that great and glorious reopening day.

'God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble'
We pray for any known to us who are unwell at the moment. We give thanks for our amazing NHS service, our G.P's, hospital staff, community workers, laboratory staff. Give them your strength and protection Lord at this difficult time.
Pray for anyone with loved ones in nursing homes they can't visit at the moment. Please pray for the care staff in all our nursing homes, that they will have the protective equipment they need and that they can be a real support to their clients who are experiencing separation from their families.
Pray for families living with disabled children who are now at home with no school and less support. Pray for their parents that they will be able to lean on you for all their needs.
Pray for those who are living alone and may feel particularly isolated. Give thanks for the supportive community we live in, the postmen and women, milkman, local shops who deliver and neighbours who make a friendly phone call.
Pray for anyone who's planned hospital appointments have been cancelled due to the virus. Give them peace about this and take away any anxiety or discomfort they may be feeling
Pray for all who are grieving .Remember those who have been unable to attend relative's funerals or have been unable to offer close comfort to the bereaved.
Pray for people's mental health as we move into the 3 rd week of self -isolation and for many the strain is beginning to show. Help us to reach out to each other, by phone, email, letter.
Our Prayer focus this week is MAF. Please pray for the staff inUK ,self isolating and working from home, and the flying team as they respond to emergencies.
The effects of COVID-19 on our mission and our world are pronounced. MAF will
continue to adjust to changing realities both on a local and global scale,
reminding ourselves daily that the King is on the Throne.

John 9 : 1 - 12
Jesus heals a man born blind
1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth.
2 His disciples asked him, 'Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?'
3 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned,' said Jesus, 'but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.
4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.
5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.'
6 After saying this, he spat on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes.
7 'Go,' he told him, 'wash in the Pool of Siloam' (this word means 'Sent'). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.
8 His neighbours and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, 'Isn't this the same man who used to sit and beg?'
9 Some claimed that he was. Others said, 'No, he only looks like him.' But he himself insisted, 'I am the man.'
10 'How then were your eyes opened?' they asked.
11 He replied, 'The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.'
12 'Where is this man?' they asked him. 'I don't know,' he said.

Our Closing Prayer
'O God who hurts when we hurt and suffers when we suffer,
we pray for all communities where hope is scarce,
self-esteem sorely pressed, and fear and distrust a part of daily life
O God who cares for the whole of each of us,
we pray for every effort to show your care,
even if it is less than we would like: friendship and support,
helping to rebuild community and heal body, mind and soul.
O God who calls us to be one people in your name,
in this time when we are isolated all the more,
we pray for every effort that enables your people to stand together as one.
O God who uses imperfect, fragile people to carry the treasure of your presence to others,
we pray for our sisters and brothers who carry on trying to care,
in your name, even when they themselves hurt.
We are fragile saints offering ourselves in your service.
In the name of Jesus Christ, keep us aware of you.'
