God we are here for you this day,
eyes open to your love,
ears attentive to your voice,
hearts beating for your call,
lives ready for your influence.
But we wonder what you want with us,
what challenge you will give,
what question you will ask,
what word you will speak.
We come to you and wait,
to discover who you are.
Speak your words of life,
then our lives will be transformed,
and your good news set free for all the world.

Thank you for all your support of Wrington Chapel and its work in the past.
We realise that many people are hard-pressed at the moment, and church may be the last thing on your mind. However, we are looking to the future when we can reopen and support each other in our usual way. Unfortunately, being closed does not mean our expenses are substantially less. If you already have a standing order set up, then thank you. But if you haven't, please consider getting in touch with Steve Osman and setting one up. If that is impossible, please continue to save up your collection money, and we will collect it all together when we reopen. Please note that the rules do not allow us to claim any Gift Aid on collections that are not taken up in church. So do NOT drop collection money off at Steve's house. Simply take out a standing order, or save it up for that great and glorious reopening day.
Psalm 46
The chapel will be open for private prayer and reflection
from 10 - 12 on Tuesday 30th June
and 2 - 4 pm on Thursday 2nd July.
We thank God for the opportunity to open for personal prayer.
We pray that anyone who comes will be blessed by spending time with you,
Lord in this sacred space.
We pray for our country as the lifting of lock down continues.
Please keep us safe Lord.
Be with those who are fearful of venturing out and meeting with others.
Help us to be wise but cautious as we learn to move in a changed society.
We continue to pray that there may be medical breakthroughs
with the treatment of covid 19.
Lord, Our refuge,
We thank you for listening unfailingly to our cries.
You have been our anchor in the midst of this pandemic
and you have constantly provided us with our needs
and the hope to get through everyday.
Amen
We lift to You Lord those on our prayer list.
As we pray for these individuals pray also for their wider families and friends.
Our Prayer focus is Tearfund.
We join with them in praying for people living in countries with poor health care facilities. We thank God that here we are able to easily access good health care and pray that Tearfund will continue to have the resources it needs to reach out to all those living in poverty and poor health.
Today's Title: Radically Generous
Today is our third and final look at compassion.
We look at living counter-culturally,
and what the bible says about surplus.
Do we have too much,
and what does God say we should do about it?
It's a challenging message for us all.

Luke 12 : 13 to 21
The Parable of the Rich Fool
13 Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me."
14 Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?" 15 Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions."
16 And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'
18 "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."'
20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'
21 "This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God."
Closing Prayer:
Brother Christ,
You walked into our lives,
took the anger of our hearts,
forged them in righteousness,
and gave them direction.
You took the hurt in our souls,
washed them from self-pity,
and made them a touchstone for compassion.
You took our selfishness and death,
and made of it life enough for everyone.
You took our prejudice,
said, 'I prefer the downtrodden,'
and turned this world on its head.
Brother Christ,
now where are you walking?
May we walk with you, for a while?
