Sunday 4th October

Alpha and Omega,

Jesus Christ the author and finisher of our faith.

We invite you to start today with us,

we cannot do anything except your presence comes.

Come, oh Lord, with your spirit and fill this place with your glory.

Accept our worship and praises.

Let everything we do today be divinely orchestrated from heaven.

Let the manifestations of Your power be released upon us.

Open the windows of heaven and bless us abundantly

and let your joy overflow us all through the day of our lives.

Amen

Giving

Thank you for all your support of Wrington Chapel and its work in the past.

We realise that many people are hard-pressed at the moment, and church may be the last thing on your mind. However, we are looking to the future when we can reopen and support each other in our usual way. Unfortunately, being closed does not mean our expenses are substantially less. If you already have a standing order set up, then thank you. But if you haven't, please consider getting in touch with Steve Osman and setting one up. If that is impossible, please continue to save up your collection money, and we will collect it all together when we reopen. Please note that the rules do not allow us to claim any Gift Aid on collections that are not taken up in church. So do NOT drop collection money off at Steve's house. Simply take out a standing order, or save it up for that great and glorious reopening day.

'The Lord is my strength and my defence;

he has become my salvation.

He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God,

and I will exalt him'

(Exodus 15:2)

Loving Father,

We pray for our community,

Family,

Friends

as we all face these strange times together.

Stay close to us all,

 be the still small voice,

that whispers in our ears.

Strengthen our love and affection for you,

as things have been stripped back,

as we lean on your knee

and want to hear your voice more clearer.

Amen

How much has isolation changed your life?

While you're keeping your distance from the world,

what do you most long for the freedom to do when it's 'all over'?

Consider for the vast majority of people served by MAF,

isolation is simply a way of life.

It may be handed down from generation to generation as part of an agrarian tradition

or a nomadic existence that is essential to their community.

But, more often than not, isolation is a way of life imposed on men,

women and children through poverty.

Every four minutes a MAF plane is taking off or landing some-where

in the world to help eliminate the barriers to physical isolation.

Working in partnership with hundreds of other Christian and relief organisations,

MAF enables practical help, physical healing and spiritual hope

to be delivered to some of the world's most remote and isolated communities.

Please pray that this work continues.

Deeper Into Jesus

Today we look at what we think we mean when we say we want to go 'deeper',

and we compare it to what the bible says. It's not just for a few elite, but for all of us.

Ephesians 4 verses 1 to 16

1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;

5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.

8 This is why it says:

'When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.'

9 (What does 'he ascended' mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions?

10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.

11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,

12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.

15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

You are a child of God, gathered in care today.
Come and be the bounty God desires...
be refreshment for the traveller,
sustenance for the hungry,
a source of joy for those you encounter.
Come, fall in love with God again.
Meet God in friend and stranger,
in music and word,
in the depths of your being.
For God gathers you as precious bounty,
open and ready for him.
You are a child of God.

Amen
