Sunday 19th April.
Opening Prayer.
Heavenly Father,
We come to you now, perhaps a little weary and heavy footed,
but we know you are overjoyed by our being and you call us to be close to you.
It has been another week of isolation,
of being separated from loved ones and from the routines and activities
that normally structure our lives.
We so need to drink from your overflowing waters of life Lord
and to be filled anew by your spirit.
We are so grateful that we have come to know you,
to love you and to have you as our rock and our guiding light
at this very challenging time in our lives.
We feel close now Lord to our Christian brothers and sisters,
sharing in this worship time and through other virtual services across the world.
We devote this time to you and offer you our hearts as we join together as one body,
in your name, Christ Jesus,
Amen

Thank you for all your support of Wrington Chapel and its work in the past.
We realise that many people are hard-pressed at the moment,
and church may be the last thing on your mind.
However, we are looking to the future when we can reopen and support each other in our usual way.
Unfortunately, being closed does not mean our expenses are substantially less.
If you already have a standing order set up, then thank you.
But if you haven't, please consider getting in touch with Steve Osman and setting one up.
If that is impossible, please continue to save up your collection money,
and we will collect it all together when we reopen.
Please note that the rules do not allow us to claim any Gift Aid
on collections that are not taken up in church.
So do NOT drop collection money off at Steve's house.
Simply take out a standing order, or save it up for that great and glorious reopening day.

TITLE: The Bible and Evolution
In times of worry, some people draw closer to God. Others begin to doubt their faith.
Some may say, 'Perhaps there is no God. Perhaps evolution was right, and it's all chance.'
Today we take a gentle look at the faith vs evolution debate and explore whether evolutionary theory really does destroy faith. Or can it make your faith stronger?

We pray for our Prime Minister Boris Johnson,
for his continued healing and for his government,
trying to steer the country through this time.
Help them to reach wise decisions in the way they handle the coronavirus pandemic.
As we begin a further 3 weeks of lock down it is easy to lose heart.
We pray that you will continually bring to mind reasons to be thankful and give you praise.
We pray for patience as we continue to adjust to the situation.
Help us not to feel frustrated and angry about the things we can't do anymore and to appreciate what we have and what we can do.
We pray for all suffering with mental health problems which may have become worse during this time.
For any feeling increased anxiety, bring your strength.
We pray for all who are feeling fearful about their health or their jobs.
We continue in our prayers for all health workers.
We thank you for them and pray they are kept safe .
For the health workers tending the seriously ill
for the scientists working on a vaccination
for the researchers analysing data and identifying trends
for the media outlets working to communicate reality
for the supermarket workers, hygiene and sanitation providers
for the good news stories of recoveries and effective planning
for the singing from balconies by locked-down communities
for the recognition that isolation doesn't need to mean loneliness
for the notes through letterboxes offering help and support
for the internet and telephones and technology that connects
for the awakened appreciation of what is truly important
Thanks be to God.
Our prayer focus this week is Bible Society .
Give thanks that, because of their work
people around the world have access to the bible in their own language.
Many more people are turning to the bible in this time of crisis.
Pray for finances for this work to continue.
In Jesus name, we pray.
Amen.
Closing Prayer
You are clever, our God:
a cleverness wrapped in grace.
Grace that calls us to open our hearts,
pull down our barriers,
and to trust you, you alone.
You meet us gently in Jesus.
And for that we praise you.
Amen
